Ms. Lakita Combs, Principal

Dear Metzler Families,

It is with great honor and much enthusiasm for me to serve as principal of Metzler Elementary. For me, the first day of school cannot ever get here fast enough as I am very eager to get to know all of our wonderful students and families. I believe that one of the most important aspects of my work as Principal of Metzler Elementary is building meaningful relationships with students, families, teachers, and the Metzler community.Since I started teaching, I've been passionate in my commitment to three things; ensuring that every student makes at least one year’s growth for one year’s work, being a forever learner and inspiring others to do the same, and building community and citizenship.

That being said, it will be very important for me to be in the hallways, classrooms, lunchroom, and on the playground getting to know students throughout the year. I have found that kids really appreciate a person who genuinely invests in them by listening, by learning alongside, and by being fair and consistent. In addition to building strong relationships with students, families and teachers it will be particularly important for me to make sure that you and your child feel safe and respected at our school. If you ever have a concern, please do not hesitate to call the main office or email me. I believe open communication is very important in a school and for this reason, I will always encourage you reach out to your child’s teacher, to a member of the office staff, or to our administration team with any questions you may have.

For those of you who have not met me, I have over twenty years of teaching experience and I'm in my ninth year as an administrator of Metzler Elementary. I started my Klein career as a second grade teacher at Schultz Elementary. I've worked at Metzler since the school opened in the fall of 2005. I’ve served as a second grade teacher and as a Mathematics and Science Instructional Specialist. I've also had the opportunity to work in the Klein ISD Curriculum and Instruction Department as the Elementary Math and Science Program Coordinator. My preparation in education began as an undergraduate at the University of Louisiana in Monroe. I completed a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University. I'm looking forward to working together to ensure that every student enters with a promise and exits with a purpose.

Jessica Taylor
Mrs. Jessica Taylor, Assistant Principal

I am overjoyed at the opportunity to serve our amazing students, families and staff as assistant principal. My love for education started as a small child when I dreamed of becoming a teacher so I could teach children to read. Over the years, I have come to realize the larger impact educators have on a child. This profession is much more than just teaching students content. We are charged with the responsibility to teach students how to be problem solvers, innovators, compassionate friends, respectful citizens and life-long learners so they can be successful and reach their highest potential.

I have been proud to call Metzler my home since it opened in 2005. In my 14 years of teaching, I have taught 3rd grade and Kindergarten. I have had the privilege of working on a Math Curriculum Writing team, participating in several grants, and presenting professional development to teachers while in Klein ISD. I studied elementary and early childhood education at Baylor University (undergraduate) and the University of Houston (graduate), and continued my leadership studies through Lamar University. I am married and have 2 children who are proud to be huskies.

At Metzler, we strive to help our students set goals, be persistent, embrace the challenge, self-reflect, and be curious so they can take ownership of their own learning. I look forward to supporting our students and staff in accomplishing their goals.

Mrs. Chastity Simon, Assistant Principal

Dear Huskies Parents,

My name is Chastity Simon and I am so excited about introducing myself as the new assistant principal of Metzler Elementary School.  I am extremely thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to work in Klein ISD, a district that is known to exemplify high achievement and success for all students.  Over the past 15 years, I have had the opportunity to serve in various roles in Spring ISD.  My experiences include being a teacher, ESL Coordinator, Summer School Principal, and Interim Principal.  In addition, I have had the privilege of serving as assistant principal for the last six years. I have not only worked with students on elementary campuses, but prior to becoming an elementary teacher, I taught in middle school for four years.  After the birth of my second child, I decided to teach elementary.

As a parent with three children, I truly understand the importance of advocating for our students. I believe there is nothing more that a parent desires than to ensure that their child experience success academically, emotionally, and physically.  Therefore, I am dedicated and committed to maintain the standard of excellence that has been exemplified by the staff and administration at Metzler Elementary.

I received my undergraduate degree in Journalism with a minor in Spanish from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, formerly known as Northeast Louisiana University (NLU) …Gooooo WARHAWKS!  From there, I continued my education in Houston, Texas and received a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Saint Thomas University.  Currently, I am pursuing my Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University.

Once again, I am elated about the opportunity to serve at Metzler Elementary and getting to know you and your students.  I look forward to serving you all.

Chastity Simon
