Attendance Counts - Be in School Every Day!
Good attendance is of prime importance for the educational development of each student. A student should never be absent unless it is absolutely necessary. Excused absences are the following: personal sickness, sickness in the immediate family (immediate family includes father, mother, brother, sister and grandparents), and school-sponsored activities. Please be mindful to send either a doctor or parent note within five days of an absence. The date(s) of the student’s absences should be included in the signed parent excuse. Please note that parental phone calls cannot take the place of these notes. Please see the KISD Elementary Student Handbook for more information about attendance.
Skyward Family/Student Access
Attendance
Attendance is recorded at 10:00 am.
Bell Schedule
Please remember that a parent or guardian should call the school when their child is going to be absent. All absences should be entered into Skyward. The
linked video explains in detail how to submit an attendance request. A student must present a doctor note or a note from his or her parent or guardian within 5 school days after the absence or it becomes categorized as an unexcused absence.
Tardies
If a student arrives to school after the tardy bell, he/she and his/her parent must check in at the front office and receive a tardy slip to give to the teacher.
Attendance Counts - Be in School Every Day!
Classroom attendance is linked to classroom success. As a parent, you are in the best position to help your children understand the benefits of regular attendance. You can help in the following ways:
- Tell your children it is important to get to school every day and on time, so they can learn more.
- If your child makes excuses to stay home from school, take the time to listen to their concerns. Have regular communication with the school about any issues.
- Post the school calendar, and plan your vacations and appointments outside of school time.
- Monitor your child’s attendance through Klein ISD’s Parent Connection.
- Report excused absences in a timely manner to the Attendance Office.
